Catholic vs Orthodox
Hello everyone ! How are you doing ?
Religion is a serious topic in my island. I am from Martinique, a French Island in the Caribbean where most of the population is Catholic. Of course, before coming here in Cyprus I made researches and I was aware that the main religion here was Orthodox. So, last week for my Imap I have visited an orthodox church. Here are some pictures:

I was surprised because I did not recognize anything. Any saints and I asked myself what the main differences between these religions are?
In fact, Catholic and Orthodox are Christians and believe in the Bible. But they are not agreed on some points. 1054 was the schism. For example, Orthodox don’t pray the Virgen Maria and their priest can get married and have children. Another aspect is that Religion and State are united while it is not the same for the Catholics. The rest is more technical.
Anyway, I enjoyed it and as they said: Knowledge is power!
Thanks to that exploration, I have learnt more about the Orthodox. Nowadays it is important to understand the others and respect their choices, their opinions, their beliefs. I believe that if we are not crossing anybody boundaries, we can all live together peacefully. See you soon!
