A post of curious things
The previous week I wrote an article about finding a body of water on Mars, like a lake, but we can’t forget that here on Earth we already have our beautiful and peaceful lakes, full of people enjoying the water to have fun with each other or simply relax…or is it like that about all lakes?
Here are the top 5 most dangerous lakes in our world:
-Karakay Lake- Set in the stunning Ural Mountains of western Russia, this majestic deep blue lake is one of the deadliest places in the world. Russia used it as a radioactive waste bin for decades, starting in 1951 and because of that now if an adult person stays for a five-minute visit,he or she receives a dose of deadly radiation and if spending more than an hour there is no chance of survival.
Death Lake-Even though this lake from the Island of Sicily is full of colors and it appears very nice on the eye,it became very famous because of it’s sulfuric acid concetracion. This place also became known by the fame of the mafia Cosa Nostra throwing there their disaffected ones.
Monoun Lake-Located at Oku Volcanic Field in Cameroon, Lake Monoun seems to be an ordinary lake. But their appearances are misleading, as this is one of only three lakes on earth that has exploded without warning in an eruption that produced a noxious cloud of carbon dioxide, which killed 37 people in 1984.
Nyos Lake-In 1986, Lake Nyos, which is only 62 miles from Lake Monoun, also exploded, after a pocket of magma at the bottom of the lake and it leaked a colossal volume of carbon dioxide into the water, turning it into carbonic acid.
Fervent Lake- Located in the Dominican Republic the name of this lake says it all. This is the second largest source of natural hot water on Earth, which the temperature is estimated from one hundred degrees because it even boils during the night. This is because water infiltrates through cracks in the bed of the earth and finds magma, there the water evaporates and rises, sucking more water from the lake down.
While the top 5 is done, I will tell you about another lake just for curiosity. Even though this lake is not considered dangerous it is extremely salty so it is a bit difficult to be inside of it. The lake Hiller, located on the south coast of Western Australia has one peculiarity. It’s color is pink! This has drawn attention to its incredible and curious color. The lake is a living rosy shade for anyone who looks forward to contemplating the wonderful exploits of nature, especially if you are accustomed to the classic blue representation of water. So feel free to fly to Australia and visit this beauty of nature!
