EVS- still life changing?
Two months ago I wrote an article about EVS if it is life changing or not. I was saying about my first week here, how crazy it felt for me with all the changes and especially, leaving my friends and family behing.
After being two months in Cyprus, things have changed for me. I have changed. If at the beginning everything was so overwhelming, now I find the things, let’s say, more peaceful. I started to get used with the lifestyle and to learn more about this culture. I find it amazing how much the living abroad experience changes you as a person.
If at first, I was “the shiest person in the world”, now I know for sure that I have improved my communication skills. Also, for me it is the first time I live with other people, so for sure it is a new and challenging experience, but I try my best to adapt to it and I actually enjoy it.
I still find it so amazing how doing an EVS helps you bond such strong friendships. You meet new people that become your family in such a short time. Besides all the new things that we learn at work, such as being responsible and on time, we also improve ourselves a lot and we learn how to respect other people’s point of view and culture.
So, answering the question, EVS- still life changing? After two months, yes. It is still life changing and I would totally recommend it to anyone, even if it is a short term EVS or a long term one. For you, you will not go back home the same person as you were when you arrived.
