Getting to know the new European Voluntary Service Team: Julieta Ghazaryan

Hey everyone!

Here is Eduard Nastase and today I’d like to introduce Julieta! She’s an Armenian member of the new European Voluntary Service team in Nicosia and also a member of Youth4Youth 4 team.

– Hey Julieta! Can you please tell us something about your hobbies and the city you were born?

– I was born in the so called the cultural capital of Armenia, Gyumri and lived there for 6 years and then we moved to the capital where I am currently leaving: Yerevan. I have many hobbies. I like movies very much, I like reading, listening music. My biggest passions right now is pottery. I am attending classes and enjoying it very much and I also like taking photos of old buildings, doors mainly and hopefully someday I will have an exhibition.

– How did you find out and why did you decide to join the EVS?

– I found out about EVS projects 5 6 years ago, but I wasn’t really interested until a friend of mine did it and was very excited. I had a job, so I was not taking serious steps to apply for EVS. About my project in Cyprus I have learned from my friend and decided to apply because I wanted to change something in my daily life and to do something useful and luckily I was accepted.

– What was the best moment you had spent here?

– I had a lot of nice moments, but I think the best one was visiting the Sea, because I didn’t see sea before. All the memories connected with the travelling around Cyprus are really great, because the Island is very beautiful and different from the mountains I was living in.

– What was the most challenging situation you have experienced during your EVS project?

– I find my project going really easy, I can’t remember about any big challenges, but I guess living with 4 different people in the same apartment was a little challenging at the beginning, but not for long. We are getting really well with each other so far.

-How do you like Cyprus and/or Nicosia?

– I am enjoying the climate, amazing views, the sea and the sand. I discovered that Cyprus has amazing street art culture, all the cities have a lot of beautiful graffiti.

-What are the biggest cultural changes you have experiences during your time in Cyprus?

– First of all it is the left sided traffic lines, it was really uncommon for me the first period. Also the architecture of the cities, I was living among high buildings all my life and I would say I am enjoying having more space here.

-Would you recommend visiting Cyprus to your friends and do an EVS here?

– Of course! Cyprus is a really beautiful country. I would like my friends to visit and of course if they would find an EVS project here that they would be really interested in, it would be great.
